Paula + Bill | At-Home Wedding Reception

In January, Paula and Bill had an intimate destination wedding for two. I was contacted by Paula's mother, Linda, to take their family portraits at their at-home wedding reception in July. I was especially honored as Paula was a childhood friend and we grew up in the same 'hood. The at-home reception was held in her parent's front yard which was a beautiful park-like setting for their celebration with family and friends.

After delivering their images, I was delighted to hear the experience was everything they hoped it would be. The weather was beautiful, the food was delicious, a few special moments were shared on the dance floor and the night ended in the wee hours of the morning.

Congratulations Paula and Bill!

Candace + Stephen | After the Wedding Shoot

It is often believed that rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck and fortune. However, from a photography stand-point it can put a damper on the photos you dreamed of capturing in your wedding clothes.

A solution is an after-wedding shoot, which can happen a day, week or months after your special day. Since the anxiety is long gone, after-wedding shoots are a time for the bride and groom to relax and just have fun with each other. It gives you the freedom to recreate or add shots that you couldn't capture.

This is a session from last year but as I sit in my office on a rainy, overcast day I think it is worth sharing with all of those brides out their who were blessed with good luck on their wedding day.  Candace and Stephen approached me to do a photography session a couple of months after their wedding.  As their plans for an outdoor ceremony were squashed by raindrops, the first stop on our session was their original ceremony location which made for a stunning backdrop.

I love the opportunity to capture such a fleeting and amazing time in a mother's life. Shelby exuded that beautiful pregnancy glow and it was such a pleasure to talk to her about the anticipation of her new addition to the family.

Just Giv'er!

Both of my parents participated in the 10km race at the Bluenose Marathon this year and I was so proud to watch both of them cross the finish line! The day is filled with such great emotion and is a fun day for runners and on-lookers cheering them on.  Here are a few photos I took while waiting for my parents to complete their run.
